LaGuardia Airport Terminal B (LGA)

All the information featured on this page was compiled and written by David Enrich, a renowned expert in aviation and airport guides, since 1999.

LaGuardia Airport Terminal B, also known as the Central Terminal Building (CTB), is the largest terminal at LGA. It serves as the main hub for Delta and American Airlines and is designed to accommodate a high volume of passengers, offering a wide range of services and amenities.

Layout and Levels

Terminal B is divided into several levels and concourses:

  • Arrivals Level: This is where you’ll find baggage claim, transportation options, and a central food court with a variety of dining choices. It’s the first stop for arriving passengers.
  • Departures Level: This level houses the check-in area and is divided into two concourses for departures. The spacious design helps streamline passenger flow, but it’s important to allow enough time for check-in and security, especially during peak hours.
  • Upper Level: The upper level features premium services such as VIP lounges, dental services, and a first aid station. This is the ideal spot to relax or grab a quick bite before your flight.

If you have a connecting flight, check your boarding pass carefully to ensure you’re heading to the correct concourse. The concourses are clearly marked, but the terminal’s size can be overwhelming for first-time visitors.

Distance and Walking Times

Terminal B is large, so walking times can add up. From security to gates 11–30, expect a 5–7 minute walk. Similarly, gates 40–59 are also about 5–7 minutes from security. Allow extra time if you have a tight connection or are traveling with children or luggage.

Wear comfortable shoes and use the airport’s moving walkways to save energy, especially if you have a long walk to your gate.

Transfer Between Terminals

LaGuardia offers a complimentary shuttle bus service that connects all terminals, including Terminal B. There are different shuttle lines for each terminal, and buses run every 8–15 minutes, 24/7. If you’re transferring between terminals, allow at least 15–20 minutes for the journey.

Follow the airport signage to find the shuttle bus stops, and check the schedule at the information desk for the latest updates.
