LaGuardia Airport Terminal A (LGA)
All the information featured on this page was compiled and written by David Enrich, a renowned expert in aviation and airport guides, since 1999.
LaGuardia Airport Terminal A, also known as the Marine Air Terminal, is located on the west side of the airport and is one of the smaller terminals. Terminal A is split into two connected sections: the historic round-shaped Marine Air Terminal building, which now serves as the Departures check-in area, and the newer part, which handles Arrivals, baggage claim, and boarding gates. This unique blend of classic and modern architecture makes Terminal A stand out at LaGuardia.
Layout and Levels
Terminal A operates on a single level, where both Departures and Arrivals are located. Despite its compact size, it houses all the essential facilities, including check-in counters, baggage claim, arrivals and departures, and basic services. Passengers can find boarding gates A1 to A6 within the terminal.
The terminal is small, but the walk from security to the farthest gate (A1–A6) takes only about 2 minutes, making it easy to navigate even with a tight connection.
Transfer Between Terminals
LaGuardia offers a complimentary shuttle bus service that connects all terminals, including Terminal A. The buses run every 8–15 minutes, 24/7, making it simple to transfer between terminals. If you’re connecting to another terminal, allow at least 15–20 minutes for the transfer, especially during peak hours.
Follow the airport signage to find the shuttle bus stops, and check the schedule at the information desk for the latest updates.
Services and Amenities
Terminal A provides a range of services to make your journey comfortable:
- ATMs for cash withdrawals
- Free drinking water stations
- Information desk for assistance
- Mobile charging stations
- Pet Relief Area for travelers with pets
- Food, drink, and retail concessions
If you have a long layover or need to relax, there are several seating areas and cafés where you can rest before your flight.
Practical Tips for Passengers
- Arrive early, especially if you need to transfer between terminals, as the shuttle buses can be busy during peak times.
- Check your boarding pass carefully to confirm your gate, as gates A1–A6 are close together but can be confusing for first-time visitors.
- If you need assistance, the information desk staff are always ready to help with directions, flight updates, or any other queries.
